The crack team are almost at the vault door -
although walls are closing in with steel spikes,
the hero suspended above lasers.
This glass tub of scorpions and hornets
will explode if you don't guess the password
but you do not speak or read Japanese
and this glitching OS is obsolete.
What happened to all the failed former teams?
No movie for them. Forgotten, unmarked
frames. They huddle just outside the shot lights
sing low dirges for the ones left living -
voices like waves breaking over shingle,
like a quasar pulsing in the deep void
millions of light years across nothing.
